Artisans hailing from Guatemala have accurately named this basket "chumil," which is the Kaqchikel word for "star." Woven masterfully using longleaf pine needles, pajón (a local grass to Guatemala), raffia, and cotton thread with a star design sewn in various shades of purple, this piece of workmanship is not only aesthetically pleasing but also entirely practical for daily use.
