There's nothing quite like these adorable and authentic seedpod animals to bring some whimsy into your home or garden! This colorful Cardinal was made using the seedpods of the Ulumbu Tree (Sterculia rogersii). Standing on hand twisted wire feet, it is between 3-4" tall and is hand painted in the rich bright colors of its traditional plumage. How cute!
Raina Mazwiembiri and her two daughters make these seedpod birds using pods that they collect and wire for the feet. The women hand paint each to create these unique birds from Zimbabwe, Africa.
Whenever I see a Cardinal, I think my dear Mother-in-Law if "visiting" me. And this little bird is just perfect.
I've been collecting these birds for several years. I let a couple of my little buddies (aka kids) pic one that they would like to start their own collection. Sammy picked the Cardinal and Elijah picked the secretary! This is such a great gift for kids!
Great stocking stuffers, beautiful hope filled decorations for the house and wonderful to think about supporting artisans in Zimbawe. I will look forward to adding other birds to the flock.
