The Story of Coffeewood: Sustainable Craftsmanship

The coffeewood used in these pieces comes from pruned coffee plants, offering an eco-friendly way to repurpose natural resources. After the coffee bushes have finished their production cycle, they’re trimmed back, leaving branches behind that artisans skillfully transform into elegant and functional home decor.

Each coffeewood product, from utensils to cutting boards, features the natural beauty of the bark, giving every item a rustic, earthy feel. The grain of the wood is smooth and refined, yet it retains its organic charm—perfect for creating an inviting, warm aesthetic in your kitchen or dining space.

Meet the Makers: UPAVIM and the Art of Collaboration

At the heart of this collection are the talented artisans from UPAVIM. This women-led cooperative, located in La Esperanza, Guatemala, is more than just a workshop—it's a source of hope and opportunity for its members. UPAVIM empowers women by providing fair trade wages and leadership opportunities, while also supporting the education and healthcare needs of the community.

The coffeewood collection is handcrafted by Diego and Raquel, a husband-and-wife team from Santiago Atitlán, whose skill and dedication bring each piece to life. Their ability to blend traditional woodworking techniques with sustainable practices ensures that every coffeewood item is not only a beautiful piece of art but also a product that promotes environmental responsibility.
